Facilitation involves guiding a group through a curated agenda to meet the goals of the day. We facilitate many different events including staff retreats, board retreats, and leadership retreats. We lead groups through difficult conversations as well as strategic visioning. We enjoy creating welcoming and supportive environments for teams to have important conversations while maintaining engagement and connection with one another.

An integral element of being a competent and inclusive leader is investing both in your own skill set and passions as well as those of your team while understanding how these contributions support the organization’s overall strategy. We are committed to coaching leaders to elevate their leadership skills to support diverse teams. Leadership coaching begins with specific goals and sessions are customized for each individual.
ALC has developed a curriculum of topics and pre-work covering feedback, accountability, communication, delegation, trust, prioritization, and more that Alex will work with each leader on through their curated sessions.

For new managers or for managers who would like to get a comprehensive grounding in the fundamentals of supporting their teams or groups of folks they work with. ALC offers a structured six-month-long cadence of one-on-one coaching in 12 sessions. Our session topics range from delegation to conflict management to stress management. The series is designed to allow an abundance of one-on-one time at the start, with later sessions tapering off. This series is best for leaders who would like to learn how better to support their teams in an inclusive and people-focused style.

The core of our practice is rooted in talent strategy through a DEI lens. We have a particular focus on supporting groups that have been historically marginalized to ensure they are always considered in the strategy we are creating within an organization. We aid employers in understanding where they currently are along the path to becoming an antiracist organization. With these goals in mind, we advise employers on their overall talent strategy and whether their company values are reflected in their executive talent decisions.
Talent life cycle topics can include:
Hiring and onboarding
Performance management and feedback
Employee relations and conflict management
DEI programs and committees
Employee resource groups (ERGs)
Benefits and health equity
Change management and internal communications
Organizational processes and systems that impact all staff
-
We begin the consulting process by getting to know your team. Our assessment will include learning about your current culture, processes and policies.
Depending on your organization’s size this might include:
Conducting a climate survey and focus groups with team members
Conducting individual interviews with leaders and key collaborators
Reviewing company policies and procedures and any other processes that affect team members or workplace culture, including the employee handbook
Discussing hiring processes, employee relations, retention, performance review processes, and other employee life cycle challenges
Reviewing results from previous climate surveys and listening sessions, if applicable
-
Our training sessions are an interactive, educational, and profound experience for the entire staff. Through discussing race and racism, gender and sexism, classism and ableism, privilege, unconscious bias, and microaggressions, participants will be able to reflect on their own lives and understanding as well as create ways to transform our workplaces and the world around us.
Components of the training include:
Learning historical context and key terminology
Asking participants to reflect about their own actions, experiences, and conscious and unconscious biases
Discussing team dynamics and challenges
Collaboratively creating a plan to support each other moving forward

Lunch & Learns are hour-long introductory workshops designed to bring folks together to explore various engaging DEI topics while breaking bread. These lunch-and-learn workshops give staff a casual space to explore a variety of topics allowing them to continue conversations throughout the year and to support weaving DEI into the fabric of the organizational culture. We find that the relaxed nature of these guided conversations allows for a greater level of candor, openness, and connection when discussing difficult but meaningful topics. These sessions also tend to be fun experiences that result in increased levels of camaraderie among staff.
Example topics:
Pronouns 101
Microaggressions + You
Intersectionality
Food & Fellowship
